Dirt, Guts and Doughnuts V will be held on October 12, 2013. Can you believe it? FIVE years of DGD!

Dirt, Guts, & Doughnuts is unlike any other MTB race that you will ever do! This unique race held consists of an 10 mile race course on one of Middle Tennessee’s best trails, Lock 4 in Gallatin, TN. Along the race route you will encounter 2 Krispy Kreme Doughnut stands. If you choose to stop and indulge, you will receive a 2 minute time deduction for every doughnut you consume! To keep with the uniqueness of the race, riders will not be classified by age or ability!  They will be classified by weight and/or doughnut eating ability.    Plus, there will be a ton of schwag given away!!!

We are back for our second annual national Ride for Reading week!  In 2012 we had 11 cities sign-up to host their own Ride for Reading book delivery via bicycle.  Like last year, we are looking for cyclists around the country (ideally world) who would like to make a difference in the lives on low-income children through cycling in their cities!

We are excited to launch our second annual National Ride for Reading Week in Nashville with Nashville’s Mayor Karl Dean.  We will be delivering books via bicycle to Warner Elementary on Tuesday, May 7th leaving from Two Rivers Skate Park at Noon sharp.  Every volunteer will receive a FREE Ride for Reading t-shirt!

During the week of May 5th-11th there will be 20+ Ride for Reading deliveries happening from Maryland to California!  We are very ecstatic to be kicking off this amazing week right here in Nashville.

The April book delivery is here!  We are planning to deliver books to Harris Hillman on Friday, April 19th leaving from Eastside Cycles.  We will meet 12:30 and leave at 12:45 sharp.  As always, a HELMET IS REQUIRED to ride.  If you are interested in volunteering please fill out the form below!

We are ecstatic to announce our new partnership with The Tennessean!  They have graciously donated the first 12 obsolete paper distribution boxes that we will be turning into new book donation boxes and possibly Little Free Libraries.  We will be looking for volunteers who are willing to help paint and transform these boxes into Ride for Reading book boxes.  Please stay tuned for volunteer opportunities to help us transform these amazing boxes…

Like every other delivery this school year, our March delivery on the 4th was absolutely amazing thanks to all of the volunteers who came out!  We have almost 30 volunteers haul over 1,000 books to 500+ screaming children at Dan Mills Elementary.  All of the books delivery were donated by our newest partner Better World Books! When the riders rounded the corner to the school, they were created by the cheers of all of the hundreds of children.  The day of the delivery all of the children we wearing hats of all types!  This made the delivery even more fun.  Yet again, we are excited to put smiles on children’s faces and books in their hands!

It’s delivery time again!  We will be donating books to Dan Mills Elementary School on Monday, March 4th.  We will be leaving from Shelby Bottoms Greenway (Nature Center) at Noon.  The route is 12 miles round trip, mostly on the greenway, with a couple of hills.  Again, all RIDERS MUST WEAR A HELMET.  To register to volunteer for this delivery, click the link below.
