Interbike 2012 Book Delivery!

We are back for another round of Interbike! Just as last year, we are bringing our mission, to promote literacy, healthy living, and cycling through the distribution of books via bicycle to children from low-income areas, to some amazing kids in Las Vegas. With the assistance of over 25 companies and 80 cyclists, including 5 professionals and several ladies from the Elite Jet Cycling Race Team, we donated 2,000 books via bicycle to the children of Peterson Elementary School in Las Vegas! This was extra special, because the school was an active participant in the Nevada Safe Routes for School program.
We will be donating our 100,000th book at this delivery!!!!
Interbike is approaching rapidly, which means it is almost Ride for Reading book delivery time! We are ecstatic to be delivering books via bicycle to the students of Paradise Elementary School in Las Vegas. This delivery is very special because we will be donating our 100,000th book! We are still in need of children’s books K-6 grade level, so we would truly appreciate if you could bring any you may collect.
We will be meeting at the back parking lot behind the Sands Expo, off of Sands Avenue (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=36.121601,-115.162235&hl=en&num=1&t=h&z=16), at 8:45am on Thursday, September 20th. Cars will not be allowed to park in the lot, so we are asking to park on the street just past the entrance to the departure location.
Pivot Cycles is bringing their demo fleet for out of towners to ride! However, there are limited number of bikes available. So if you are a native Las Vegasian and you would be willing to bring a extra bike, we would appreciate it. If you have a backpack or bike trailer please bring them. We do actually port all books via bicycle!
Like last year we will depart the linked location at 9:15am with an escort from the Las Vegas Police Department and arrive at Paradise Elementary School at 9:30am. We will speak to the children about our mission, place all books on tables, the children will pick their own book, and we will depart. We hope to be back to the sands by no later than 10:30am. All riders will receive a limited edition event t-shirt and a chance to win a ton of schwag donated by our sponsors.
